"Bravo to C. K. Conners on his new book, The Ramblings of a Small Town What’s-His-Name. The narrator, like an old, well-educated gentleman, escorts the reader from one story to another. Presenting us with the upcoming tale while adding and sharing his own perspective. It’s like walking into a party where you know no one, and having the narrator gently take your arm, introduce you, and share a few tidbits for you to digest as you greet each chapter. As for the stories within the collection, Conners is clever in his mix of topics, while also changing up the point of view when you move from one narrative to another. He keeps everything fresh. In some of the chapters, he captures the emotions of love and life, while writing in a poetic and visual style. Yet, Conners easily changes gears; one chapter can be hauntingly beautiful and another, full of vivid imagery and delightful dialogue. I highly recommend this interesting and well-written book."
